A large portion of my job as a Stylist and a Style Director is to know what designers, brands, etc are coming out with and although the season is getting pretty chilly and many are beginning to wrap their mind around the holiday season, I am up to my eyeballs in Resort and SS17 collections. By staying ahead, I am able to pull for my magazines in advance, prepare for my TV segments and to see what is out there. Earlier this week, I saw a cohesive collection of classics with a twist which included wide leg pants, asymmetrical pieces and fun prints via Ann Taylor. This spring/summer presentation had a tropical and nautical vibe which had vibrant prints and a number of ways that navy was elevated throughout the line.
This time of year, you're reasonably convinced that the worst of the weather from winter is behind us (although I have had a few doubts over the past few days), you're excited for Spring and just like that Fri is the first day of May and you begin to really think about your closet! There are a number of ways to purge your closet whether it's swapping with friends, going to your local consignment shop and more. But when you have tried a number of these ways, it's time to think about letting your clothes and accessories have a second life to someone in need.
ANN INC. (the parent company of Ann Taylor and LOFT) has partnered with Give Back Box, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating local charitable donations. They assist in being able to help you with seasonal closet purges to re-use items as we're in the midst of Earth Month. By visiting either ANN INC. retailer, you can donate clothing and accessories that you are no longer interested in. You can use boxes/bags from these retailers or others in order to ship this box free to local Goodwill distribution centers. Simply follow the steps above.
Saturday afternoon, I will be attending Romona Keveza's Bridal Shows and will be giving you first hand info on all of her collections. As noted this past Saturday when we kicked off our bridal focus for the rest of this month, you will find a lot of posts that are geared towards brides and their parties. I've noticed that there has been a huge debate in the use of black when it comes to bridesmaids. Some people are opposed to it as they feel it's a bit morbid. I think that when you have an evening wedding and you're going for a glam affair, that there isn't a problem with this!
In addition, I think that when it comes to bridesmaids dresses, you selected your girls based on your relationship with them and the last thing that you should do is put them in looks that are not wearable after the event and/or that becomes a running joke within the party. I'm a huge fan of J.Crew who's placement within bridal is definitely one that many brides look to when it comes to their dress or those that are in their party. For the bride that is young and wants to go for a slightly different look, this Marchesa dress has a whimsical sassiness to it that is perfect for a fun wedding. Finally, Ann Taylor keeps it classic with this strapless dress that has embroidery in its tea length structure. All of these dresses can be recycled again for another look for a night out, vacation and more. In addition, I'm loving the fab jewelry that you can give as gifts that add a bit more personality to the look!
You know that I love Ted Rossi and beyond his phenom python aesthetic, I love that he has fab Swarovski necklaces as well as his cuffs that he is known for! Speaking of Swarovski, how can you not love this Nirvana ring which is available in black? Noir has an edgy pair of talon earrings that will look amazing from the lobes of your girls which is a great way to accent the neck. Finally, I'm a long time fan of Konstantino and this chunky sterling bracelet is definitely a keepsake that you'll wear again and again!
As you guys have seen this week, I was on HSN for Sebago during their Spring Fashion Series presented by Elle Magazine! On Wed 23rd, there were a number of shoe brands that came out (I mean I saw Beverly Feldman who I adore and walked past her as I was going on the set)! I appeared on a 2am, 7am and 3pm slot talking about Sebago, where to wear them, how to wear them and why I loved them so much! I had to remind myself that HSN is the fourth largest network with a viewership of 95 million households! I have to say that HSN doesn't play around! They're on schedule, super sweet and the follow up is insane. I'm so happy for everyone that tuned in but for those that didn't I have some videos that you can enjoy!
I also want to thank those that dressed me! First off I have a HUGE love for Ann Taylor and LOFT! All my pants came from these fab brands as I wanted to wear cropped pants or leggings that showed off my footwear. I have never owned a pair but after wearing these I would say that your closet must have them going forward! I love bling and nothing says that more than Chelsea Taylor! I loved wearing the necklace, various bracelets and the ring! Of course the tops from 2am and 7am were Thai Nguyen from Bravo's Launch My Line! I love his boho chic style. But I also loved wearing Eva Varro during the 3pm show as she has been dressing me for years! Also, if you loved the nails - you know that Susan Nam, Celebrity Nail Stylist and owner of Polished Beauty Bar, keeps me in Zoya's Indigo!
There are a number of shows coming up in May and October with my involvement with Sebago and of course I will keep you up on information regarding my Kimmie Smith x Sebago Fall 2011 collection as well!
As I mentioned before, the past few days have been insane! I launched my Kimmie Smith x Sebago collaboration at the Capsule show which will launch later this fall. Then I flew out to HSN where I did 3 segments on air for the Sebago brand! We sold out of styles, I rocked it out with 3 amazing hosts and I wore some phenomenal brands. Since I am flying back today, I will not go into all the looks I wore today as I'm in the after glow of an amazing experience but tomorrow, you will see posts and clips of footage!
There were so many people involved that made this possible from the Sebago team, my publicist (Dorian of Big Apple Style Marketing) and boyfriend (Paul of Social TV) who kept the virtual viewings going and the brands that I wore - Ann Taylor, LOFT, Chelsea Taylor, Eva Varro, Janine Weil Showroom and everyone who called in, emailed, texted, tweeted, FB'd, GChatted and more! It's a huge thank you! We have future airings coming up in May and October and I will let you know! Above is a screenshot from the 3pm hour with Bobbi Jo Carter my final host of a long but exciting day!
So last night, I flipped through my emails and received a press release about Ann Taylor Loft not being known as LOFT. In addition to this focused name, they have defintiely over the past few seasons stepped it up in getting fun pieces that can definitely take you from the office to a night out. I believe that this is the first time that I have included The Loft on Kitten Lounge and with so many holiday parties popping up why not? The Satin Dress is a great staple for a holiday occassion and I love that it already has a necklace effect! You could place simple diamond earrings a charm necklace and a pair of heels together and you're done. Although this is a great look, I find that a simple dress is the perfect canvas to let your personality show through and so this sweet dress is getting decked out with fab accessories which takes it to an entirely new level!
Slowly but surely, I'm getting into the caged bootie and as a friend of mine has an option to get any pair of Christian Louboutin's, possibly this could be something that she should get. I love that you can wear this with skinny jeans but this is also perfect for a dress! You know that anytime I'm out, Ted Rossi is on my wrist and this black matte python cuff with the cross is a conversation piece without question. Finally, I have been a fan of Siman Tu for about 5 years or so and his natural pieces never cease to amaze me. Put together, you have take the perfect black dress to an entirely new level and you have fab accessories that can be worn with a number of pieces in your growing closet! Satin never looked so sweet and these pieces bring out the inner rocker as well!
